It is our mission to enhance the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities by helping them reach their highest potential through training, education, employment, housing and social opportunities in safe, healthy and stimulating environments.
Edwards Center vigorously strives to erase the lines between the able and the disabled. We believe that each person has potential and that each one of us deserves compassionate motivation and support to reach it.
We know that families often are the most passionate champions of people with developmental challenges. Families are where our founder, Jean Edwards, drew her greatest inspiration in establishing Edwards Center 35 years ago.
We believe Edwards Center has an opportunity to be a driving force for developmentally disabled people in Washington and Clackamas counties.
We are committed to this set of values:
- Excellence
Providing the best to people with developmental disabilities.
- Individuality
Encouraging decision-making and expression of choice.
- Ability
Emphasizing an optimistic and compassionate attitude in supporting participants as they overcome challenges.
- Respect
Facilitating dignity and respect for all individuals through personal and environmental safety, cleanliness and privacy.
- Productivity
Encouraging productiveness and engagement, whether through employment, artistic expression, socializing or other activities.
- Integration
Fostering and creating opportunities for participating in their communities with people without disabilities.
