Edwards Center strives to create a family-like atmosphere in its homes in Washington and Clackamas counties. All of our 14 properties—single-family homes, duplexes and apartments—have overnight staffing.
Like our other programs, the residential services respond to individual needs, supplying as much support as is required. For example, staff may assist residents with diet, medication, housekeeping, errands and community activities. Some facilities also offer nursing and other medical care.
Our staff helps assess the needs of clients to determine their abilities and interests before suggesting residential placement. Our goal is to build the skills necessary for independent living if that is what the client desires. Some residents cook, clean, garden and manage personal affairs without any assistance from staff.
“As we salute the growing residential options that Edwards Center provides, we also remember that these individuals are living fuller lives because we allow some supported risk-taking,” explains Jean Edwards, founder of Edwards Center. |
